‘Weakening of Atlantic meridional overturning circulation may affect Indian monsoon in future’

Researchers from IIT Bhubaneswar, UK, and Sweden have discovered that mixing between Atlantic and Arctic waters is essential for sustaining the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC). The study indicates that reduced mixing due to global warming could weaken AMOC, impacting global climate patterns including the Indian monsoon’s strength and timing.
