Odisha chief minister Mohan Majhi recently urged West Bengal’s Mamata Banerjee to stabilize potato supply after prices soared due to a shortage. Despite a prior agreement, Odisha once again faces a crisis. The Odisha government is now also procuring potatoes from Uttar Pradesh but the quality is reportedly inferior. Subsidized potatoes are being sold to curb prices.
